How it works:

Why should I use Studio 289 for my next interior project?

We design pieces you'll feel confident recommending to your clients! Our team has decades of experience in the custom furniture and interior design industry, dedicated to making quality furniture your client will love having in their home.

How much input will I have in the design and specifications of a piece?

Our goal is to deliver on your client's expectations. Together, we can discuss the specifics of what your client has in mind. Based on our knowledge of furniture construction and design, we can provide helpful input on feasibility, aesthetics, and how best to achieve your client's vision.

What should I prepare for our initial in-person consultation?

We'll discuss a lot during our first meeting, so information like sample images, photos of the space, preferred colour palette, and client budget is helpful to have on hand. If your client doesn't know precisely what they have in mind, we'll help them articulate their ideas through the consultation process.

How will I view and approve the final design?

Once you've decided on a design, we provide sketches for your review, complete with dimensions, size, and materials used. Our furniture makers take so much pride in their work that we have an open-door policy. Come in and watch as we construct and assemble your requested piece from start to finish.

Our Materials

What types of materials do you use?

We use high quality, durable materials, like maple hardwood, polyurethane foam, 100% cotton felt, rubber webbing and springs. We invite our clients to choose a fabric from our wide selection. You can even provide your own material for us to finish the piece!

Are your materials safe for children and pets?

Our beautiful fabrics are designed with quality in mind and designed to hold up to use in a busy household. We carry a wide selection of textiles with specific properties, including pill-resistant, high abrasion, stain-resistant, and flame retardant fabrics. What is your waste management strategy?

We take the time to thoughtfully design and envision each piece we make. Our years of experience have given us an edge in understanding how much raw material we need and what techniques to use so very little is wasted at the end. Also, since custom furniture is made on-demand, there's no need to manage the disposal of excess, unpurchased product.

Our Services:

Is there a particular type of furniture that you specialize in?

We do quite a bit! At Studio 289, we focus on soft furnishings such as sofas, sofabeds, stools, chairs and ottomans, but we also make dining and living room tables, particularly those with a wood or metal base. In addition, we've branched out to take on custom drapery projects. If you have something in mind that you're not sure we can build, reach out to us to discuss!

What types of projects do you take on? Is any project too small or too large?

Studio 289 has residential and commercial clients alike, and we love taking on new challenges. Our team has gone from reupholstering a single chair, to furnishing an entire home. Our focus is on producing quality work, regardless of project size.

What if my client is unhappy with the final result?

Our objective through the consultation process is to make refunds and exchanges unnecessary! We ensure we deliver a product constructed to the exact specifications as approved by the client and designer. If there are concerns with the end result, we are happy to work with you to make it right.

What if my client damages his/her Studio 289 furniture?

In the case of damage made to the furniture frame, structure, or foam, please contact us to discuss restoration options and obtain a quote for our repair services. For upholstery damage, please note that while we do not supply a guarantee for the textiles used in our pieces (since our fabric is manufactured from an outside supplier), we are happy to provide repairs for a fee, including cost of replacement material.
